Dr. Laura Finley named PeaceVoice Public Peace Intellectual of 2013

Barry University assistant professor of sociology and criminology Laura Finley, PhD, was recently awarded the PeaceVoice Public Peace Intellectual of 2013 award at the Peace and Justice Studies Association (PSJA) 2013 Annual Conference. Finley received the award at the yearly meeting in Waterloo, Canada.

PeaceVoice presents the award each year to the peace intellectual who publishes the most peace-based articles or commentary in print and online news sources. Dr. Finley's analytics and persuasive writings have reached all 50 states many times in the past year, with total circulation numbering near the hundreds of thousands.

Dr. Finley was more productive than any other of the organization’s 1,500 peace scholars. Her positive peace stance on numerous issues helped to translate the findings of academic research into popularly understandable commentary which were published in print and online news and information outlets across the US and globally.

PeaceVoice is an initiative of the Oregon Peace Institute that is devoted to changing the larger conversation about peace and justice by offering articles and commentary to news organizations nationwide.
