The economics of being recognizes human existence as a perpetual form of "doing." Human beings cannot dispense with the necessity of having to make choices. As a being who must make practical, life-affirming choices, if for no other reason than survival, man must decide between higher and lower values. The lecture will trace man's existential condition, as this was manifested in the daily struggle for survival of man in prehistory, beginning with the Upper Paleolithic Age (40,000-35,000 B.C.).
