WINTER PARK, Fla. -- Barry junior forward Savad Garner (Greenville, S.C./Hillcrest HS) has been recognized as the Sunshine State Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week Presented by VALIC.
Garner led Barry to an 80-67 win over Ave Maria on Friday with a career-high in both points and rebounds. The Greenville, S.C., native recorded his first double-double of the season with 20 points and 12 rebounds in just 25 minutes of action. Seven of his rebounds came on the offensive side of the court. Garner shot 9-for-12 (.750) from the field and went 2-of-2 from the charity stripe. Defensively, he pulled down five rebounds, blocked two shots and created one steal.
Garner is averaging 13 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. He has scored in double figures in five of the six games, and is shooting 62.5 percent from the floor.
