MAPS Holiday Celebration

MAPS Holiday Celebration

Please join us for this celebration. In the spirit of giving, we will also be fundraising for two charities – one in Haiti and the other right here in South Florida.

Date: Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012
Time: 5 p.m.
Location: Kostka Room – Thompson Hall

Toy Drive
The Barry University MAPS chapter has joined forces with UM MAPS, and FIU MAPS for the holidays! We will be partnering with the Care Resource to collect toys for their Toy Store, in which the children of HIV+ families are able to pick one gift for Christmas, meet with Santa, and also receive pediatric consultation from the medical staff at UM. We would love to have the support of our members by donating toys. We will have a drop-off box located outside NHS 309.  Alternatively, you may consider bringing your toy on the day of the holiday party.

Charity in Furcy, Haiti
A MAPS member is helping to organize a Christmas celebration in Furcy, a small village in Haiti.  The event will provide 240 children with a little holiday joy.  Last year's party was a tremendous success. The children had the opportunity to experience the Christmas spirit, something they are not used to feeling. During the party, thanks to all the generous donations, every child received a hot meal, a toy, school supplies, and supplies for dental hygiene following a presentation by a former BMS student who is now in dental school.  This year, BMS student Christophe De Lespinasse is continuing her legacy.  Donations will be accepted at the party.
