World-renowned pianist Martin Camacho-Zavaleta to perform at Barry and Steinway Piano Gallery

 

Miami Shores, Fla. – The Miami Piano Circle and Barry University host Dr. Martin Camacho-Zavaleta, world-renowned pianist at the Andy Gato Gallery at Barry 7 p.m. on March 27 and Steinway Piano Gallery in Coral Gables 6:30 p.m. March 29.

Both concerts are free and open to the public. The program will include unique Scandinavian compositions for piano by Sonstevold, Grieg, and Saeverud.

 Barry is located 11300 NE Second Avenue, Miami Shores and Steinway Gallery is located 4104 Ponce De Leon Blvd, Coral Gables.

Camacho-Zavaleta, made his Carnegie Hall debut in 2009 to a sold-out house when he was a professor of piano in Barry University’s Fine Arts department. He has won more than a dozen local and international competitions in Mexico, Cuba and the United States and, given his accomplishments, is cited as one of the most important Mexican pianists of his generation. He has given recitals in the United States, Venezuela, Cuba, Japan, Norway and Mexico and has appeared as a soloist with orchestras in the United States and Mexico.

Camacho-Zavaleta earned his bachelor’s in music from the Instituto Superior de Arte in Havana, Cuba, his master’s in music from the Cleveland Institute of Music under Sergei Babayan and completed his doctoral degree at the University of Miami under Ivan Davis. He is currently Chair and Associate Professor at Alabama State University and has been in the field of education since 1999.
