Andreas School of Business wins FMA Superior Chapter award

Barry University's Financial Management Association chapter earned the 2010-2011 Superior Chapter status award, the highest honor for an FMA student chapter or honor society.

This designation is given to fewer than five percent of all FMA chapters, internationally. Barry University came up on top with other universities such as Texas A&M, Arizona State, and Georgetown.

The Superior Chapter status award is presented to the group who exhibits excellence in chapter management and proving member program activities, according to FMA standards.

Since 2005, Barry University students in the FMA chapter have been continually inducted into the honor society as well as chosen for the fellow of the FMA and Collegiate Fellows Program award. Barry's FMA chapter also received the Silver National Honor Society Membership Development Award for the 2007-2008 academic year. Groups receiving this award demonstrated excellence in the recruitment of new student members and advances in scholarship.

Sean Cooney, FMA president and Honor Society member, received a plaque in recognition of the honor.

"Our young men and women continue to work hard to promote a positive relationship between students of finance and practitioners of finance," said Dr. Bruce Payne, faculty advisor for the chapter and Andreas School of Business professor. "Their work reflects great credit on themselves and Barry University. We will see the day when recruiters are lined up on our campus in competition to hire our graduates."
