MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry will row against Sunshine State Conference neighbor Nova Southeastern Saturday in Hollywood, Fla.
The varsity 4+ race is set to begin at 7:45 a.m. in the body of water near the Sheridan Street bridge (Exit 21 off I-95) and the Hollywood Boulevard bridge. The varsity 8+ crew dual is scheduled for 8 a.m.
The Barry-Nova dual always has a lot riding on it with the two South Florida area crews bidding for conference and national bragging rights.
In 2010, the Buccaneers varsity 8 crew beat Nova by 11 seconds on their way to the SSC championship. Nova won the varsity 4 race.
Last season, Nova outraced Barry 3.4 seconds in the varsity 4 race. In the varsity 8 race, the Sharks were 4.8 seconds faster than the Bucs.
This is Barry's lone area race of the season. The Bucs varsity 8 squad is coming off an impressive race in winning the Canal 54 duals last week in Fellsmere, Fla. Barry shaved roughly 26 seconds off its time on the 2,000-meter course.
