Barry announces undergraduate tuition freeze for 2012-2013 academic year

Current and new undergraduate students attending Barry University this fall (2012-2013 academic year) will not see a rise in the cost of tuition, University officials announced this week.

The tuition freeze was approved by the University’s Board of Trustees to continue to make Barry’s quality education affordable and help struggling families and individuals.

A freeze on tuition means that Barry’s nearly 3,000 undergraduate students (as of fall 2011) and new students in the fall of 2012 will not have to be concerned about meeting the demands of higher tuition costs. Barry’s current tuition rate is $28,160 per year, but nearly 90 percent of undergraduate students receive some type of financial assistance. The average financial aid package significantly reduces the cost of attending Barry.

Barry has a long history of providing access to academically talented students from all socioeconomic backgrounds.  As such, the University offers a generous scholarship program that rewards high school academic achievement for incoming freshmen and college achievement for entering transfer students.

The decision reflects Barry’s commitment to ensure that there are as few barriers as possible for students of promise.
