MIAMI SHORES, Fla. –Team Black used a late extra-inning rally to take the deciding game five at Feimbloom field in the annual inter-squad fall classic.
There is no surprise that a playoff game came down to pitching, defense, and timely hitting. In one of the most impressive pitching duels of the fall Calvin Rayburn and Billy Atkins locked horns making sure that there would be no offense activity. Both bullpens did the same and it wasn’t until extra innings, in the bottom of the 8th, that team Black walked-off with the fall championship.
With one out in the 8th, Carlos Matamoros started the rally with a single. Branden Shaw followed with a rocket up the middle advancing Matamoros to 3rd base. Adrian English was intentionally walked to load the bases. Team Red then then went to the bullpen to get a lefty-lefty matchup with hitter Ramon Valdez. On the 3rd pitch Valdez faced, he fisted the pitch into shallow right field for the game winning RBI single.
