NCAA Division II South Region Tennis Tournaments

MIAMI SHORES, Fla.— The Barry University tennis teams have been selected to host a section of the 2014 South Region Tennis Tournaments, May 3-6, after a strong showing the SSC Tennis Tournament last week.

The Buccaneers claimed both men's and women's titles at the SSC Tournament last week to claim automatic bids.

The women (23-1) won their fifth straight SSC title, setting a conference record for consectutive championships. The Bucs are ranked number one in both the NCAA South Region Poll and the ITA National Poll. They have a bye in the first round.

In the other women's semifinal, the fourth-seeded West Florida Argonauts (23-4) will face the fifth seed, the Rollins Tars (17-6) at 9:00 am on Saturday, May 3. The women's championship is set for Sunday at noon.

On the men's side, which begins on Monday, May 5, the Buccaneers won their 11th SSC title and third straight to earn an automatic bid. They will face another automatic qualifier, Stillman (27-4), at 10:00 am.

In the second semifinal, third-seeded Lynn (15-6) will take on sixth seed Rollins (12-10) at 1:00 pm on Monday. The championship match is set for 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 6.

The winner of the regional tennis tournament will advance to the NCAA Division II Tennis Championship in Altamonte Springs, Florida., May 14-17. The championships consist of a 16-team single elimination tournament.
