Carrie Conway from the Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation speaks to students from CNHS’ BSN program

The College of Nursing and Health Sciences’ BSN program welcomed Carrie Conway, senior program officer of the Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation, as a guest speaker on Feb. 1. The foundation has provided funding for nursing scholarships for female nursing students for several years.

Last year, 28 Barry University undergraduate nursing students were awarded a scholarship from the foundation. During her visit, Conway spent time with four of the award recipients, all of whom expressed excitement in sharing their backgrounds as well as what led them to choose nursing as a career.

Additionally, Conway spoke about Mrs. Whitehead’s life and her many accomplishments, including the formation of the foundation, which was done by her son prior to Whitehead passing.
