Women’s Equality Day

Women’s Equality Day

Thursday, August 26th is Women’s Equality Day, established to celebrate the passing of the 19th amendment which granted women the right to vote. The Anti-Racism and Equity Coalition invites you to celebrate this day by learning more about the experiences of women and the issues of discrimination that face them today. For more information on Women’s Equality Day and the history of gaining the right to vote for women, please visit https://nationalwomenshistoryalliance.org/resources/commemorations/womens-equality-day/.

As we celebrate Women’s equality and the doors that were opened by the 19th amendment, we recognize the barriers that still remained for many women of color and other groups in regards to voting. The Anti-Racism and Equity Coalition encourages the movement beyond equality to equity in our actions, interactions, and institutions that we build.
