Anderson named 2011 Capital One Academic All-American

TOWSON, Md.--Barry University men’s soccer standout Mark Anderson has been named 2011 Capital One Academic All-America® NCAA Division II Men’s Soccer Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Anderson earned Academic All-District in 2010 as well as Academic All-Region in 2011. In his four year career at Barry has been named to the Dean’s List three times, Athletic Director’s List twice and SSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll twice as well. A criminal justice major, Anderson currently holds a 3.567 grade point average.

Anderson succeeded on and off the pitch this fall accumulating accolades that include 1st Team All-SSC, 1st Team All-Region, SSC Offensive Player of the Year, SSC Player of the Year and South Regional Player of the Year.

Anderson finished the season as the NCAA DII leader in goals with 21 and also finished second with 46 points. His 21 goals were most in school history as he finished an illustrious four year career ranking in the top 10 at Barry in 16 different categories. He finishes as the school’s all-time leader in six categories including points per game (2.03).

Anderson is only the second student athlete at Barry ever to receive the Academic All-American honor, Christian Witt, as part of the men’s tennis team, was the first in 2000.
